COACHES CORNER

FAQs

Who can be a volunteer coach?
Anyone who completes and passes a Forest Lake Area Schools Background Study and concussion training. Everyone who is selected to coach will recieve a 50% refund upon the completeion of the season and all provided equipment is returned. Please contact Tracy Angelo for background study information at 651-982-8110 or tangelo@flaschools.org.

Do I need coaching experience?
No coaching experience is necessary. FLASCE is able to provide training and information to help you along the way in becoming a coach for any sport as needed.

How do I become a coach?
During the registration process, you will be asked if you are interested in being a volunteer coach. If you are interested, answer yes and provide your contact information. If you are not registering a student but still interested in coaching, please call 651-982-8110 to be added to our coaching list.

What night are practices and games held and where?
FLASCE designates a weekly game night. Volunteer coaches will select a weekly practice night based on FLASCE guidelines. FLASCE designates local elementary and secondary schools as practice and game locations.

How many practices are required?
The expectation is to hold one weekly practice (Mondays-Thursdays), but volunteer coaches can hold up to two practices a week based on the availability of the FLAS facilities.

Do I need to provide my own practice plans?
Volunteer coaches are able to create their own practice plans but can request help in building practice plans.

Are there officials?
FLASCE determines the need for officials and assigns officials to games.

Are there rules?
FLASCE provides game rules by sport to coaches.

Is equipment provided?
Equipment provided by FLASCE varies by sport. Please email Katie Suloff at ksuloff@flaschools.org with specific equipment questions.

Each program has a designated coaches meeting where additional information is shared.
