Boys Tennis 2020 Spring 2020

Coaching Staff

Coach Ron & Coach Phil

If you have any questions concerning the Boys Tennis team, please don't hesitate to call or text me at my number above.  Thanks, Coach Ron

Immediate Upcoming Opportunities:

There will be 5 hitting sessions to be held at Public Indoor Tennis in Spring Lake Park on the following dates from 9-10:30pm: 1/22, 2/5, 2/19, 3/5, and 3/19.  The Boys Tennis Boosters are covering the costs for the courts.  The number of participants is capped due to Covid policies so sign up on the link below.

If you can't make any of the Friday night hitting sessions at the PIT, please take this opportunity to join other students at the high school for 6 hitting/drill sessions.  These activities, unlike the PIT sessions, will be supervised by coaches so that you can get some good lessons and work on your skills.  These coached drills will be held on the following Sunday evenings in one of the gyms at the high school from 6:30-8:30: 2/7, 2/21, 2/28, 3/7, 3/14, and 3/21.  You don't have to attend every session, but obviously as many as you can will only help your game.

Further sign up information and costs to follow.

In order to grow the tennis program, we are holding our first ever winter/spring clinic.  It will be held on Wednesday evenings from February 3rd thru March 17th in the south gym at the high school.  There will be 2 groups: K - 3rd grade, and 4th - 6th grade.  The two groups will be capped at 12 students each.  If you are in grade school, or have a grade schooler, or just know of a grade schooler that wants to learn the great game of tennis - here's their chance.  More information can be found on the Forest Lake Community Education website linked below.

12/7/20 Update on New Tennis Shed

OUR NEW TENNIS SHED is finally taking shape.

After seeing what our kids have had to deal with in the way of a shed for their supplies in the past years, it became painfully obvious that a new shed was needed.  After much planning, and after the organization of the Boys Booster Club and help from many parents, we undertook the project of building a new shed.

With money raised by our Booster Clubs (both the girls and boys clubs), we were able to purchase materials and then construct the walls and trusses ahead of time and then erect everything this last weekend: 12/5 and 12/6.  Our plan is to finish the structure next spring after it warms back up.  In the future the new shed will house most all of our tennis supplies as well as serve to be the central administrative location for tournaments.  I want to thank everyone who helped out so far with this cause!  Remember, it takes all of us as we move forward in building this tennis community.

Thanks, Coach Ron

The shed was first drawn up using a Computer Aided Design program.

The site was prepared by removing top soil & bringing in the appropriate gravel mix for a concrete slab. Our extraordinary foreman on this job was/is Jeff Dzurik (on the left). Helping him this day was his wife Kelly, and also Amber Setter & Todd Kerkow.

Meanwhile the trusses were built by Coach Ron and Phil and Captains Joey, Henry, and Evan.

PHILSTER! What a great assistant coach. He helps keep me calm.

Captain Henry learning a new skill. He did a great job!

A special note to the lady in the background. Not only did Jessie Leagjeld keep us supplied with food goodies and snacks but she also was the safety director for Jeff and Eric.
